The KIA Sonet was launched in the Indian market in 2020, featuring a unique set of features and multiple engine options. In January 2024, KIA India introduced a facelift for the Sonet, which included enhanced safety features and advanced technology aimed at capturing the sub-compact SUV segment.
Within just 11 months, the KIA Sonet achieved sales of 100,000 units, accounting for 32% of KIA India’s overall sales. The KIA Sonet has a 1.2-litre normal petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine.
According to KIA India, petrol variants of the KIA Sonet account for 76% of overall sales, with 34% of those being iMT and automatic variants.
The KIA Sonet is the only compact SUV under 4 meters that offers multiple transmission and engine options. It features a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine with a torque converter automatic transmission. It emphasized the customer’s needs.
